I'm about to upgrade my 2020 Pulsare 2400 and am currently debating between a clean used 450R and a much cheaper 2.6L 400R. I had this 300R that ran great but I kinda want more top-end. My main concern with the 450R is the added weight and whether the transom will handle it well. Is anyone here with a 450R on this hull? How is the quality and performance? Also, are these bolt-on swaps from the 300R or nope? Thanks, appreciate your input.

The bolt pattern is the easy part since they are the same but the 450R is a whole different animal from the 300R in weight and torque which puts a huge strain on the transom. Before you go any further down that road, what prop and jack plate setup are you running now and what top speed numbers are you seeing?

didn't the reinforce everything from the factory to handle more power?

The 450R will give you the speed boost you're after, but it's heavier than the 300R. It's mostly a bolt-on swap if your rig's already set up for it, but you might need to tweak steering or supports. Some guys are running the 450R on that hull and loving the performance, just be ready for more fuel burn and a heavier feel.

I totally agree, it's a great boost in power, but we definitely need to think about the extra weight and fuel consumption as trade-offs

Totally, make sure your boat's transom can handle the extra weight, and beef it up if needed. You'll get a nice speed boost at the top end, and it's reliable as long as it's set up properly.
