Realized I got nothing better to do with life now that my daughters have officially moved out, completely, after the last one got married and the older one turned out to be gay and moving someplace else with her one true love. I don't mind. I miss them so much and I am so bored with a life without them. Their mom passed away already.

Okay, enough background. I just want to know what's the best way to go about this and what mods I can try to make it power through as if it's not as old as me. Any advice would be much appreciated.

@T0NYT0DD What an awesome way to pour your energy into something great! A '77 Spectra is a cool classic. For power, you're looking at an engine repower for sure. Before that, dig into the hull and stringers to make sure she's solid. You're bringing that boat back to life, and that's pretty epic!

No idea what you're going through, but I feel you and believe me, this project will transform you.

Start with the engine, do the essential makeover, oil, filter, stuff like that and see if it starts. YOu can also tackle the electrical aspect and what needs to be changed or upgraded if you're into something a bit more modern. Check the hull and see if it's good or if it needs some work there. Once you get it running as you want to you can keep it as is or you can do some mods to bring it into this century.

Kick things off with a complete tune-up, swap the plugs, clean the carb, and refresh the fluids. Consider upgrading the intake, exhaust, and ignition for improved throttle and torque. Just keep it simple and reliable.
