Just acquired a Checkmate 13 Playmate GT and i'm trying to learn more about it. Does anyone know the original specs or what size motor it was designed for? Would love to get it set up right and back on the water soon

The Checkmate 13 Playmate GT originally featured outboards ranging from 115 to 150 hp. For precise specs and the max hp rating for a safe setup, be sure to check the capacity plate located on the transom.

Most folks overpower those little Playmates chasing thrills, but truth is, too much motor turns a fun runabout into a death trap. Sometimes getting it set up right means respecting the original horsepower limits.

Thanks for the tip! Do you happen to know if the capacity plate also lists the recommended weight and passenger limits, or is it just engine specs?

Good point.. Safety definitely comes first. You think people typically stick with the 115-150 hp range, or do some run slightly higher without issues?
